For over two decades, I have had a passion for helping others to reach their health and fitness goals. Every one of us has different motivators that propel us towards making changes to our eating, our activity, and other factors that influence our well-being. For me, it was simply being uncomfortable in my own skin.
At age 23, I had been on every diet available and had tried every commercial weight loss plan. Quite honestly, I had given up. I had lost hope. With the encouragement of my sister and despite my doubts, I tried one more time. With the collaboration and teamwork of a weight loss coach, I learned about consistency and perseverance. I learned the necessary skills and developed the behavioral mindset needed to succeed. What was the most important lesson I learned? Quitting is NOT an option. I committed to attending weekly sessions. I was perfectly imperfect, but I kept showing up. I took it one step at a time, starting with walking. I built on that, and one year later, I had reached a healthy weight range and had lost over seventy pounds.
That was many years ago, and it changed my life and my direction. I have participated in several road races, two full marathons, over a dozen half marathons, and four triathlons. I also got into body building competitions and completed six physique competitions. Anything is possible if you don’t give up!
Since then, it has been my purpose to coach others in the development of a healthy relationship with food, find activity they enjoy, and feel comfortable with themselves. My experiences in weight loss coaching led me to become a certified personal trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine, which strengthened my knowledge of the functionality of the human body. My deep interest in the healing power of food has inspired me to become a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN).
I am an adjunct professor at Simmons University. Previously, I received my graduate certificate of dietetics in 2018 from Simmons University and have completed a master’s in nutrition and health promotion. In 2023, I completed a supervised clinical practice and passed the RDN exam. I have also earned my LDN (licensed dietitian nutritionist).
As a registered dietitian nutritionist, my commitment to evidence-based, scientific practice has and will continue to enable me to provide the most appropriate care to all clients. I believe in a collaborative approach, working together with each client to support, educate, and inspire. I look forward to being a partner with you on your wellness journey!
It may feel like starting is impossible, but that is simply not true. With the right encouragement and guidance, I changed my habits and behavior. I have never looked back!
This photo was taken of me and my sister (pictured in front of me), as we participated in one of several road races. I tell my clients what I learned: It's about eating healthy and moving your body.
This photo was taken from one of the six physique competitions. One of the greatest benefits of changing your relationship with food and making fitness a priority is seeing the results of your dedication.
It can be a real challenge to take control of your nutritional and fitness needs, but it is worth it! I believe this and have made it my mission to help individuals commit themselves to changed behavior and reaching their goals!
I understand the difference between just a temporary weight loss fix and long-lasting behavior change. Collaborating with individuals to help them achieve their nutritional and fitness goals is the most rewarding privliege!
